ESOP Student Scholarships 2012

ESOP has a limited number of scholarships available for Master Students who plan to write their Master's thesis. The thesis must be relevant to ESOP's research areas.

The application deadline is October 20 every year. In special cases we will accept applications outside of the main allotment, in which case the student should contact the head of administration, Astrid Sandsør (July 2011 - November 2011) or Johannes Elgvin (Desember 2011 and onwards), in advance. The next application deadline will be October 20, 2011.

Who may Apply?
Applicants can be Master Students at the Department of Economics or at other departments at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The thesis must be relevant to ESOP's research areas. Applicants are supposed to have at least one supervisor among the ESOP research staff

The Scholarships
We have two types of scholarships:

1) The ESOP scholarship
2) The ESOP scholarship in Gender and Economics

To be considered for the ESOP scholarship, the thesis must be relevant to one or more of ESOP’s research areas. To be considered for the ESOP Gender and Economics scholarship, the thesis should in addition have a focus on gender related topics.

Each scholarship is NOK 15 000 paid in one payment. In addition the awarded students will receive a personal work space with a computer, and may receive financial support for project related travels. Students who receive a scholarship are invited to attend ESOP’s research seminars and workshops, and might also be asked to present parts of their thesis for the ESOP research staff.

The Application
Applicants should contact their supervisor to discuss a project plan. The application should be 1-2 pages long and should contain a presentation of yourself, your motivation for applying, a work schedule for the master degree and the name(s) of the supervisor and/or the proposed ESOP supervisor. Along with your application, please attach a project description for the thesis (2-5 pages), your CV and your grades from higher education.

How to Apply
The application, project plan, CV and grades for higher education should be sent as one or more pdf-files by email to Johannes Elgvin.
