"Optimal carbon taxation with carbon leakage at the extensive and the intensive margin: Proposal for a carbon tax reform" - OFS lecture with Peter Birch Sørensen
OFS seminar. Michael Keen is deputy director of IMF's fiscal affairs department. Before joining IMF he was a professor of economics at the University of Essex, and a visiting professor at the university of Kyoto. He will present "Exploring residual profit allocation".
OFS seminar. Attila Lindner is an assistant professor at UCL. His research interests are how public policies can alleviate inequality, the effects of minimum wage policies, and the interaction between unemployment insurance and job search. He will present a paper called "Technological Change and Skill-Demand in Non-Competitive Labor Markets", co-authored by Balázs Muraközy, Balázs Reizer, and our own Ragnhild Schreiner from OFS.
Attila Lindner, assistant professor at The University College London, will hold a course for Ph. D. students in public economics with the title "Methods and Applications in Public Economics and Labor Economics".
Marianne Marthinsen and Maria S. Wahlberg are economists and politicans. They have written a book together about common tax avoidance strategies: Rødt lys. Det store skatteranet- og hvordan vi kan stoppe det. The guest lecture is a part of ECON4415, but is open for all.
Joint SSB and OFS seminar. Davud Rostam-Afschar is an assistant professor at the University of Hohenheim. His research interests are decisions of the household and firm in the context of public economics. He will present the paper "Freedom of Movement, Taxation and Job Mobility in Europe." The seminar will be at Statistics Norway.
Joint OFS and SSB seminar. Marius Ring is a Ph.D. candidate at the Finance department at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. His research interests are corporate finance, household finance, labor economics, and entrepreneurship. He will present his paper entitled "Household Responses to Capital Taxation: Evidence from Geographic Wealth Tax Discontinuities in Norway." The seminar will be at SSB.
OFS seminar. Michael Lovenheim is a Professor of Economics, Industrial and Labor Relations, and Policy Analysis and Management and is Chair of the Economics Department at Cornell University. He will present a paper entitled "The Effect of State Funding for Postsecondary Education on Long-Run Student Outcomes", co-authored by Rajashri Chakrabarti and Nicole Gorton.
Joint OFS and SSB seminar. Jarkko Harju is a senior researcher at the VATT Institute for Economic Research. Harju’s research is focused on empirical public economics with a particular focus on behavioral responses to income taxes and value added taxes. He will present “Do Payroll Taxes Turn Workers Into Machines?”
OFS seminar. Benjamin B. Lockwood is an Assistant Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy at Wharton, University of Pennsylvania. He will present a paper entitled "Regressive Sin Taxes, with an Application to the Optimal Soda Tax" co-authored with Hunt Allcott, and Dmitry Taubinsky.
