Andrea Papini defended his PhD thesis “Empirical essays on taxation and self-employment” on the 9th of November. Supervisors have been Thor O. Thoresen (Statistics Norway and OFS) and Wiji Arulampalam (University of Warwick and OFS). Opponents were Jean-Francois Wen (University of Calgary) and Åsa Hansson (Lund University).
Gaute Torsvik and Oddbjørn Raaum received funding from the Nordic Tax Counsel to conduct research on the compliance effects of tax audits. The funds will be used to finance a survey experiment assessing how audits affect the perceived riskiness or noncompliance. It will be undertaken in collaboration with The Norwegian Tax Administration.
