Sandven is a PhD candidate in political theory at the University of Oxford, funded by an Aker Scholarship. His thesis looks at the legitimacy of contemporary border control through the lens of freedom as non-domination. He is particularly interested in the legitimacy of extraterritorial and collaborative forms of border control. Whilst at ARENA, Sandven will be researching these themes as they apply to Frontex.
His latest publication is ‘Systemic domination, social institutions, and the coalition problem’ in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (doi.org/10.1177/1470594X20927927).
