Emilija Tudzarovska-Gjorgjievska is guest researcher at ARENA from 1 October 2018. She is affiliated with the PLATO project, a European training network (H2020-MSCA-ITN) with 15 PhD candidates who investigate the legitimacy of the EU’s responses to the financial crisis.

Tudzarovska-Gjorgjievska is PhD researcher at the Institute of Sociology, Czech Academy of Sciences. Her PhD project is co-supervised by Chris Lord at ARENA.

Academic interests

Tudzarovska's PhD project seeks to understand the causal linkages between anti-corruption policy effectiveness and EU legitimacy. The aim of the project is to understand what factors influence actors and institutions (input) in enforcement of anti-corruption measurements (output), and how this affects the EU legitimacy (outcome).


Tudzarovska holds an MA in International Politics from the Centre Européen de Recherches Internationales et Stratégiques (CERIS), Brussels, in partnership with Collège d'Etudes Interdisciplinaires, Université Paris Sud and MSc in Educational Management from the University Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.

Before joining PLATO, she worked on Conflict, Stability and Security program at the British Embassy in Skopje, and as Program Manager at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC). She is a member of the Global Initiative Network against Transnational organised crime.
