Jan Pesl

Academic interests
Jan Pesl is one of three early-stage researchers at ARENA who are part of the PLATO project, a European training network (MSCA-ITN) composed of 15 PhD candidates who all contribute to one overall research question: Did the EU's management of the financial crisis resulted in a legitimacy crisis?
Pesl’s main academic interests lie within the field of social data science. His PhD project combines a social scientific approach with methods from computational linguistics with the aim to explore changes in the EU's public reputation management during the past two decades.
Background
Jan holds a Master degree in Sociology and a Bachelor degree in International Relations and Sociology from Masaryk University in the Czech Republic. Besides of his MA programme, Jan has also spent one academic year at the University of Bergen in Norway studying System dynamics.
