New grant at ARENA

The GLOBUS grant is a new opportunity for master's students writing about the EU's contribution to global justice.

Veronica Thun, Linn Tomasdotter and Kjersti Nørgaard received the ARENA grant in 2015.

Ambitious students who want to write about global justice now have a golden opportunity. The new GLOBUS grant gives two students NOK 25,000, their own workspace, and a chance to be part of an international research project with partners on several continents.

Deadline 1 June

GLOBUS offers grants to master's students who plan to submit their thesis during the Spring semester 2018. Topics of particular interest include the EU's policies towards:

  • Migration
  • The UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • LGBTI rights
  • Human rights and criminal justice

The deadline is 1 June.

Comprehensive project

GLOBUS is a research project that critically examines the EU's contribution to global justice. Combining normative and empirical research, GLOBUS explores underlying political and structural obstacles to justice. Analyses of the EU’s positions and policies are combined with in-depth studies of non-European perspectives on the practices of the EU. The project has eight partner universities in Brazil, China, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Norway, and South Africa. ARENA's Helene Sjursen is the project coordinator.

The ARENA grant lives on

For students writing a thesis within ARENA's other fields of study, we are offering a traditional ARENA grant. This grant's application deadline is 20 September.
