Bakgrunn

Knut Christian Myhre har sin utdannelse fra Universitetet i Oslo og University of Oxford, og har tidligere arbeidet ved NTNU og Nordiska Afrikainstitutet.Myhre har gjort feltarbeid blant den Chagga-talende befolkningen i Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Hans doktorgradsprosjekt fra dette området omhandlet medisinsk mangfold i et historisk og semantisk perspektiv. Myhre har publisert innenfor temaer som bytteteori, representasjoner av andre, ikke-vestlige kunnskapsformer, lokale personbegrep, antropologisk teori, materialitet og hekseri. Han arbeider for tiden med prosjektet ”Property, Ownership and Reproduction: Historical Ethnography of Persons and Things in Kilimanjaro”. I den forbindelse har han nylig gjort feltarbeid i en NGO basert i Dar es Salaam, Tanzania som arbeider med landrettighetsspørsmål.
