Abstract:
Wind, weather and climate have always influenced human adaptation to the natural environment, yet it has received little analytical attention in anthropological research until recently. In this paper I intend to foreground experiences of meteorological conditions to show how a phenomenological approach to weather have analytical potential in studies of Zulu religious practices in general and individual occult experiences in particular. Furthermore, I will argue that these embodied experiences of wind are intimately related to cultural specific discourses on the body and the environment.
