Instituttseminaret SAI: "Gendered utopias in the era of governmentality"

The Scandinavian welfare state rests on a highly segregated labour market. Yet while many researchers have pointed to the fact that almost all welfare services are provided by women, few have focused on what this means in terms of welfare state performance. To what extent does the success of the welfare state"s universalist ambition depend on the ability of the female labor to absorb responsibility? In what way do the conditions under which they work differ from other labour market domains? In my presentation, I take issue with what may be called "the welfare state and the problem of women".
