Dr. Terrence Deacon is professor of Biological Anthropology and Linguistics at University of California-Berkeley. His research combines human evolutionary biology and neuroscience, with the aim of investigating the evolution of human cognition. He is one of the world's leading scientists that has pursued the groundbreaking ideas of the anthropologist and polymath Gregory Bateson (1904-1980). Professor Deacon is the author of the books "Incomplete nature: how mind emerged from matter" (2012) and "The symbolic species: the co-evolution of language and the brain" (1997).
