Abstract: This paper is examining the underlining connection of homeownership and migration. It is looking at the policy construction of a ‘homeowner’ notion in the UK in the after-war period, its relation to the debt culture as an obligation to succeed and their ground undermining of the social contracts. Examined deep rootedness of homeownership in the identity formation and the unattainability of the goals set by financial institutions reveal people’s longing for the futures that will never come and a need for strategies of escaping those flexible economic models. In this case – it became lifestyle migration of the British to Spain.
