The position forms part of Prof. Thomas Hylland Eriksen's ERC funded research project "Overheating: The Three Crises of Globalisation". The successful applicant will join a research group comprising at least six researchers, working comparatively and ethnographically on local responses to economic, environmental and cultural crises across the world. The countries are selected with a view to cover broad structural variation in the articulation between global forces and local responses. Each researcher will carry out fieldwork and analyse material from one country. This position is reserved for a project with an empirical focus on a predominantly Muslim region or one in South Asia. A documented interest in the anthropology of globalisation is essential. Applicants must have native or near-native competence in a Scandinavian language or English.
The appointment is for a duration of three years.
