Pågående prosjekt

Jeg er prosjektleder for Liten i Norge. Studien er populasjonsbasert og har et prospektivt, longitudinelt design. Målsettingen er å øke forståelsen av hvordan barn tidlig kan komme inn på forskjellige utviklingsveier og hvilke forhold, både pre- og postnatalt, som er av betydning for hvordan tidlig skjevutvikling kan komme i gang og eventuelt forebygges.

Hittil har vi samlet inn psykologiske og biologiske data fra rundt 1000 barn og deres mødre og fedre; fem ganger under svangerskapet og seks ganger frem til 3-årsalder.

Dataene har blitt innhentet ved hjelp av spørreskjemaer, biologiske prøver, testing og direkte observasjon av atferd, samt videofilming av samspill mellom mor og barn og far og barn. En 8-årsoppfølging av barna og deres foreldre er under planlegging.

Forskningsprosjekter

2012 → : Prosjektleder for det NFR støttede (FRIMED) forskningsprosjektet med den vitenskapelige tittelen A longitudinal population study of infant vulnerability and plasticity from pregnancy to18 months. Det norske navnet som brukes om studien er Liten i Norge, (LIN-studien).

2010 – 2011: Assisterende prosjektleder for LiN-studien.

2012 → : Medlem av prosjektgruppe for det NFR-støttede prosjektet School - and teenage follow-up of neurocognitive and psychosocial functioning of children born to mothers with opiate and polydrug abuse.Med den norske tittelen Oppfølging i ungdomsalder: Utvikling og hjernen, i samarbeid med  Kristine Walhovd, Egil Nygaard, Kari Slinning og Anders Fjell.

Fredriksen disputerte våren 2019 med avhandlingen Depressive symptoms in the transition to parenthood: Patterns, processes and child outcomes. Skjøthaug har levert sin avhandling våren 2019.

Mother-infant interaction during infant’s first year of life.  Kristin Økern Haabrekke disputerte i 2015 med avhandlingen: A better starting point in life – The development of children born to mothers who have received treatment for their substance abuse problems while pregnant.

Nasjonalt og internasjonalt samarbeid

LiN-studien startet ut som et nasjonalt samarbeid mellom alle de 4 regionsentrene for barn og unges psykiske helse og ble de første årene driftet fra Nasjonalt kompetansenettverk for sped- og småbarns psykiske helse, RBUP, Øst og Sør. I 2018 ble studien flyttet over til Psykologisk institutt her ved UiO hvor flere forskere fra ulike fagavdelinger nå er inkludert. 

Vi har også et samarbeid med ernæringsforskere ved Havforskningsinstituttet (HI) ledet av Dr. Marian Kjellevold. Delstudien Liten i barnehagen kom i stand som et samarbeid med forskere ved RKBU i Midt-Norge Professor May Britt Drugli som primus motor. I tillegg har vi et samarbeid med Universitetet i Tromsø og forskere tilknyttet studien Små i Nord ledet av Catharina Wang.

Av internasjonale samarbeidspartnere har særlig Dr. Richie Poulton, leder for The Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health and Development Study, ved University of Otago, New Zealand, samt Dr. Arnold Sameroff, fra University of Michigan, USA og Dr. Antoine Guedeney ved Hôpital Bichat-Claude Bernard og Universite Denis Diderot i Paris, vært viktige i planleggingen og design av prosjektet.

Når det gjelder prosjektet Neurocognitive development in children born to mothers with substance abuse and psychiatric disorders: biological–social interaction effects, er det samarbeid med Professor Kristine B.Walhovd, ved Senter for livsløpsendringer i hjerne og kognisjon, ved Psykologisk Institutt, Kari Slinning, Dr. psychol, ved R-BUP Øst og Sør, og Astrid Bjørnebekk, Post doc. Jeg har også samarbeidet med Kristine B.Walhovd, Kari Slinning, Egil Nygaard,og Anders Fjell, om prosjektet School - and teenage follow-up of neurocognitive and psychosocial functioning of children born to mothers with opiate and polydrug abuse.
