Academic interests

  • Cognitive control functions such as proactive inhibitory control and controlled attention

  • I am interested in normal brain processing as well as effects of focal brain lesions on the above functions

  • Electrophysiological methods based on electroencephalography (EEG: Event Related Potentials, time-frequency analysis, functional/effective connectivity)

I am part of a research group that studies the neurophysiological basis of cognitive control functions. Using brain imaging techniques such as EEG and fMRI we investigate cognitive control in the healthy brain and by combining these techniques with the lesion method we investigate the role of different subregions of the prefrontal cortex in cognitive control functions. During my post doc I will study cognitive and motor inhibition with a focus on proactive control. I plan to map the functional and effective connectivity underlying proactive inhibition in the healthy human brain and to investigate whether cortical damage in specific PFC or parietal subdivisions leads to disruptions of the proactive inhibition network.
