About the Project
This is a joint project with several sub-projects between the University of Gadjah Mada UGM in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and the University of Oslo. The fundamental sub-project, in which the UiO Department of Political Science is particularly important via Olle Törnquist, is the third national expert survey on the probklems and options of democratisation in Indonesia. The two previous surveys where academically directed by Törnquist in cooperation with a research NGO called Demos; the new third survey is driven by UGM in cooperation with UiO and with Törnquist as a senior adviser. The survey is quite extensive and pioneering and includes huge information that can be draw upon by researchers and students, including for comparative purposes with other countries. The project is financed by The Norwegian Embassy to Indonesia, University of Oslo and University of Gadjah Mada
Cooperation
The major Oslo University participants are Professors Olle Törnquist and Kristian Stokke. A large group of Indonesian researchers and students are involved.
Senior researchers, Master and PhD students are invited to contribute to and benefit from the project. Support for field studies and other expenses are available.
