In this article, Are Skeie Hermansen studies the intergenerational transmission of educational attainment and adult earnings among immigrants in Norway. The results show substantial upward mobility among second-generation children compared to their parents.

In this article, Anne Lise Ellingsæter, Hege Kitterød and Jan Lyngstad investigate normative feedback of the extensive reforms in childcare services in the 2000s. From conditional attitudes to the suitability of institutional care, the majority view shifted towards ‘childcare services only’ being considered the best form of care for preschool-age children.

In this article Willy Pedersen and Anders Bakken analyze substance use patterns among adolescents in different parts of Oslo. Although those in the city's wealthy west have a much higher level of substance use than those in the poorer east, they use substances in a manner not indicative of large health-related risk - the opposite is true for those in the latter group.
