DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Retirement through the disability insurance system accounts for a large share of labor force exits in Norway. In this paper, a life-cycle model with endogenous retirement is developed to study the interplay between the disability insurance (DI) and old-age pension (OA-pension) systems, and the macroeconomic effects of OA-pension reforms. The key contribution is that I, in contrast to standard macro pension models, include DI as another margin of retirement. I show that failure to account for this margin might severely bias the outcome of pension reforms.
