Recruitment
The aims of the doctoral degree programmes are to train and recruit researchers for posts at universities, colleges and other institutions in society that have great demands for scientific methods of work and insight.
The central component of the programme is critical and individual research into a special field, to be concluded in a doctoral dissertation. In addition comes a course component. The teaching is often held in Norwegian, but some courses are offered in English.
The final defence
The doctoral programme is concluded with a public lecture on one given subject, and a disputation where the candidate defends the doctoral dissertation.
