In this lunch seminar Arturo López-Levy discusses challenges for the Cuban economy in the light of the process of normalization of relations with the United States implying a partial opening of the economy,. He also discusses possible scenarios for change and possible implications for the economic model of the upcoming 7th Party Congress (April).
Arturo López-Levy is Lecturer at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and author of a.o. Raul Castro and the New Cuba: A Close-Up View of Change (with Harlow Abrahams, 2011).
López-Levy is also onsultant for the New America foundation and the Inter-American Dialogue about Cuba and US policy towards Latin America. Before immigrating to the United States in 2001, Lopez-Levy worked as political analyst for the Cuban government (1992-1994).
