Academic interests

Hans Jacob Sandberg is a MA student in Political Science at the Lund University in Sweden. His current academic interest lies within foreign policy of the European Union, with focus on civil and military missions and operations in the old European colonies. In his thesis, he will study the EU's engagement in Somalia. He aims to discuss how the mandate of the missions and such operations as 'Operation Atalanta' were developed towards the Comprehensive Approach. His thesis is a part of the GLOBUS project and his supervisor at ARENA is Helene Sjursen.

Sandberg holds a Bachelor in Political Science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). As part of his Bachelor degree, Sandberg spent one year at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London. Before joining ARENA, Sandberg worked as an intern at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Stockholm.
