Academic Interests

Morten Egeberg's main areas of academic interest include the role of organisational factors in political systems – such as the relationship between organisational and institutional forms on the one hand and decision-making processes on the other hand – but also changes in organisational and institutional forms. The research focuses especially on the European Commission, EU agencies, national executives, and the relationship between the EU level and the national level.

Background

Egeberg has been Professor of Political Science (public policy and administration) at the University of Oslo since 1993. He holds a joint position at the Department of Political Science and ARENA.

Egeberg was Director of ARENA 2003 - 2007, and Head of the Department of Political Science 1990 -1992.

Morten Egeberg is member of the The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters since 2004.

2010-2014 he was a member of the Research Council of the European University Institute, Florence.

Projects

Egeberg (with Jarle Trondal) is, on behalf of ARENA, partner in the Jean Monnet Network "Agencification of EU Executive Governance" (TARN) 2015-2018.  

He is a workpackage co-leader in EuroDiv, and lead the work-package 1 'The administrative-regulative dimension of political order' of the project EuroTrans

Morten Egeberg participated in NORCONE – The Norwegian Constitution in a Changing European Context, funded by The Research Council of Norway.

He was research group coordinator in the European wide CONNEX Network of Excellence - 'Efficient and Democratic Multilevel Governance in Europe' 2004-2008.
